5 Home Improvements for your House
Today I’m sharing five home improvements to help you prepare your home for sale:
1. Curb appeal. Make the outside of your house look attractive. Most people make their decision within 15 seconds of driving up to a home. Do what you can to put your best foot forward. Pressure-wash the driveway and sidewalks, paint the front door, put out a welcome mat, have some flowers by the entrance, and mow the lawn. In my opinion, curb appeal is the best way to maximize your sale.2. Clean and declutter. Make sure your house is clean, absent of odors, and decluttered. Pay special attention to cleaning the carpets and floors. Remove as many personal effects as possible.
3. Floor plan. This isn’t something you can easily fix, but removing some furniture can sometimes help the floor plan feel more open. Make sure the master bedroom and bathrooms, in particular, are open and bright.
Do what you can to put your best foot forward.
”4. Update your kitchen. Remove any dirty dishes, make sure your cabinets are clean, and replace handles if they’re dated. In general, if your kitchen is dated, update it. ‘80s and ‘90s kitchens are just not appealing to buyers anymore, and most people can’t imagine what it will look like when refurbished.
5. Big-ticket items. You don’t automatically have to buy a new roof or the like, but if yours is in ill-repair and needs to be replaced, do so. This gives the buyer some security that they’re not going to have to pay for this large investment anytime soon. Big-ticket items are commonly the deciding factor in whether a buyer chooses your property or not.
